That’s why we made a podcast.
The Khayat family has been part of Gurnee for over two decades. What began as a dream has grown into something much bigger: restaurants, nightlife, community, and now, The Ten Hotel.
But the story of how we got here isn’t a straight line. It’s filled with pivots, setbacks, late nights, family debates, and moments that only make sense looking back years later.
We’ve never really shared it publicly.
Until now.
When you build something as personal as The Ten, people ask:
“Why a hotel?”
“Why now?”
“Why ‘The Ten’?”
The answers aren’t simple. They’re wrapped in 20+ years of history: from running nightclubs in the ’80s to raising kids in this community, to creating something meant to last beyond us.
We wanted to tell that story the right way. Not through polished quotes or a corporate video. Through real conversations between the people who lived it.
That’s Inside the Ten.
Season 1 is about family.

This is just the beginning.
Future seasons will expand beyond family, bringing in guests who represent the pillars of The Ten: hospitality, dining, events, and the community that makes Gurnee home.
But first, we start with the foundation. Because you can’t understand where we’re going without knowing where we’ve been.
